The New Gen programme covers live music, dance, and spoken word performances, plus lots of creative activities to have a go at, from steelpans and poetry to art and film-making. The Mind Zone is our chill-out space—for when you need some quiet or want to boost your mindfulness. Find out about creative careers at our Film Panel, or get hands-on with the New Gen Film Shoot. We also have on-site refreshments, a youth market with young designers showing their brands, and stalls from partners working with young people across Ealing.

Main Stage

12pm to 9.15pm

New Gen’s headliner this year is Cristale, a supremely skilled rapper, poet, storyteller, visual artist and university student, with a number of viral freestyles to her name and several singles, including recent underground hits ‘Morgan’, ‘Whites’ and ‘See Myself’. Cristale is also an actor and recently appeared in the Channel 4 and Disney collaboration Queenie.

Cristale will be joined by DJ Kwamz and ten artists chosen by a youth panel at Bollo Brook Youth Centre from the rich diversity of emerging talent in West London and beyond. working in genres such as Rap, Dancehall, Afrobeats, and Amapiano.

Taking turns with the music will be a series of dance performances and workshops put together by Elevate Arts to reflect Ealing’s diverse dance cultures. The dance programme includes all-female hip-hop company Solo Donne, Hip Hop, Locking, Afro, and Afrobeats workshops, and a headline set from Central Hype.

West Stage

12.30 to 7pm

The West Stage is the place for inclusivity and collaboration, with takeovers from Rebels & Pilgrims, London College of Music, Include Me, and The Metaphorest mixing their different flavours of music and spoken word.

Performers include Chicken Shed with ‘Inclusion Emergency’; singing from Voices Singing School, West London Performing Arts Academy, and Ealing Mencap; live music from Valley Doctor, Ellie Maxwell, The Pypes, the IMPACT Theatre Band, Julianne, and Ailen; spoken word from Milli-Rose, Nomadic Libaax, Caelix, Mstr Samuel, and The Metaphorest; plus Leah Dance.

Around the Site

Around the site you’ll find tents, gazeboes, and even trees hosting drop-in activities, creative tasters, performances, partner stands, and the New Gen Youth Market with a fashion upcycling activity.

Have a go at the steelpans with True Steel Band (2-4pm). They’ve played everywhere from China to Germany, at the Olympics opening ceremony and on Come Dine with Me, and now they’re coming to share their passion for music and culture with the next generation.

Find Trees for Cities under the trees with their Poet-tree, Leaf ID, and Personali-tree activities plus information about getting involved in planting trees yourself.

Test your football skills with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, pedal power your own fruit concoction on their Smoothie Bike, or get all glittered up.

Media Zone (12-6pm)

In the Media Zone you’ll find the New Gen Film Shoot and Westside Radio’s Presenter Talent Search Competition. At the Film Shoot you can have a go at directing, handling the camera, and presenting (or singing/dancing/parading your fashoin) and get some guidance from a screen industry professional. At the Presenter Talent Search you can try out your TV/radio presenter skills in front of a panel of friendly judges, and get some tips from the Westside DJs. They’re looking out new presenters to join the station, so this is your chance! If you fancy doing an interview or feature about what you see at New Gen yourself, have a chat with out Media Team, who’ll have a table in the Media Zone too.

Mind Zone (12-6pm)

The Mind Zone is a quiet, inclusive space to chill out and recharge, offering creative and mindful activities from our partners working in mental health and supporting families with additional needs. The Mind Zone is the place to find Include Me, a partnership championing equity and inclusive access for SEND young people in the borough.

  • Yoga demo and sign dancing from IMPACT Theatre (outside on the grass)
  • Flow State in 4, an art and mindfulness activity with the Josh Hanson Trust to get you in the flow
  • Henna and caricatures from Ealing Mencap
  • Have a go at the Sound Beam, an award-winning, state-of-the-art ‘touch-free’ musical device that turns physical movements into sound, enabling people of all abilities to create and collaborate on music
  • Head massages for parents and carers from the Ealing Parent Carer Forum
  • Refreshments from Mahaba Cafe
  • the welfare station (if you’re lost or feeling a bit off)
  • Engagement stalls from Speech & Language Therapies, the Family Information Service, Ealing Contact, Youth Social Network, West London Performing Arts Academy, Ealing Services for Children with Additional Needs, and MIND

Market Zone

In the Market Zone you’ll find our Youth Market with young designers selling their clothing and accessories, along with some of our partner stands. You can also have a go at upcycling clothing yourself (2.30-2.30pm & 3-5pm). Bring along some old trainers, a hat, a T-shirt…anything that could do with a splash of colour!
