New Gen Festival

Try something new at New Gen

New Gen is not just a music festival, it’s a festival of creativity, with lots of opportunities to join in and try something new.

If you like to move, our dance programme has workshops in locking, hip hop, and Afro dance styles. See the programme for timings.

If you’re into fashion and reducing waste, join in Open Ealing’s upcycling activity in the Market Zone. This will run 12.30-2.30 and 3–5pm. Bring along some old trainers, a hat, a T-shirt…anything that could do with a splash of colour!

Young writers can join in Gita Ralleigh’s found poetry workshop in the Activity Zone from 12.30 to 2pm. Sign up here if you’d like to join in. There’ll also be a performance warm-up with James Pendle (starting 2.15pm) before the open mic to free up your voice and soothe any stage nerves.

True Steel Band will be playing from 2 to 4pm and are ready to show you the ropes on the steelpans.

There are also opportunities:

  • to perform in the poetry & music open mic from 3 to 4.30pm in the Activity Zone (see this post for info)
  • to try out your media skills in Westside Radio’s Presenter Talent Search in the Media Zone (12-6pm)
  • to have a go at directing, operating the camera, or showing off your stuff in the Film Shoot (12–6pm), also in the Media Zone.
